Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 15, 2026. DP Bookkeeping is a restricted-access bookkeeping application operated by Douglas Peters for approved member bookkeeping workflows. Last updated July 24, 2026.

Information We Collect

We may collect and process account and transaction data obtained through Plaid with authorized user permission, along with bookkeeping categorizations, notes, reporting data, and limited technical information needed to operate and secure the application.

How Information Is Used

Data is used to connect authorized financial accounts, import transactions and balances, support bookkeeping workflows, generate summaries and reports, and maintain the application’s reliability and security posture.

Data Sharing

Consumer financial data is not sold. Information is only shared with service providers needed to operate the application, when authorized by the user, or when required by law.

AI-Assisted Bookkeeping

When an approved member requests an AI suggestion or prepares the AI review queue, selected transaction details, relevant bookkeeping history, and limited business context may be sent to OpenAI to generate a proposed category, tax treatment, business assignment, explanation, or follow-up question. Internal account identifiers are minimized, and the service uses a pseudonymous safety identifier instead of the member's email address.

AI output is advisory and remains subject to human review before it changes the bookkeeping record. DP Bookkeeping requests that OpenAI not store response application state, but limited provider processing or retention may still apply under the account's OpenAI terms, settings, and applicable law.

Retention

Data is retained only as long as needed for bookkeeping, reporting, security, operational continuity, and applicable legal or tax obligations.

Security

Administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards are used to protect stored information, including restricted access, MFA on critical administrative systems, secure credential handling, and encrypted communications in transit.

User Choices

Connected account access may be revoked through Plaid. Deletion requests will be handled where applicable, subject to legitimate legal, security, bookkeeping, tax, and operational retention requirements.
